I found out yesterday that I was chosen as the Orlando violinist to accompany Machine Gun Kelly on "A Little More" at Venue 578. I had to make last minute arrangements and changes, but I think it'll all work out for the best. I had submitted my cover video kind of last minute and assumed that the contest had ended. I'm so glad that they DID reach out and wanted me to be a part of this show. You can see the video here:
A big shout out to my former FAU professor Alejandro Sanchez-Samper for sending me the initial contest rules. It touches me knowing that a former professor still cares about my musical career. I think the only Stetson teachers who have done something like that are the incredibly brilliant poet Terri Witek, the quirky techie Matt Roberts, my former conductor Anthony Hose, and my friend (who was never actually my professor) Boyd Jones.
Neither of my direct advisors have communicated with me much since graduating, minus a comment about dentists and a spontaneous IKEA run-in (which was super awkward). I don't expect everyone to remember me, or to even care about me- but it really says something about your so-called "mentors" when they completely blow off your accomplishments and forget that you exist. I mean shit, I thought I was giving my alma mater a good name. At least an industry contact and friend came out of FAU before I left. For that, I am grateful.
If you're in Orlando and want to come watch me swag it up with MKG, be sure to stop by. I think the show starts at 9pm, but haven't gotten official confirmation yet. it should be a lot of fun either way. Let's get Turnt.
